Say you use a theme with 3 sidebars, now you switch to one with 2 sidebars. The widgets you used in the third sidebar are still 'locked' and you can't add them in the 2 sidebar theme until you go back to the old one and remove them from the sidebar. So much for newbie friendly. That’s not the only fun you have with the new amazing WP2.5 widgets.
Say you use a theme with 3 sidebars, now you switch to one with 2 sidebars. The widgets you used in the third sidebar are still ‘locked’ and you can’t add them in the 2 sidebar theme until you go back to the old one and remove them from the sidebar.
So much for newbie friendly.
