Comments add life to blog. No doubt, blogs with more comments are always preferred by visitors. Its my usual trend that whenever I visit any new website or read any new article, I determine the user interaction of that website by looking at the visitor reactions. So, comments play a vital role in developing any blog’s first impression and hence, it is necessary to attract high quality comments to our blog. I have mentioned 9 tips useful to increase and improve blog comments. Just check them out.
Tips to increase blog comments:
[1] Latest fresh topic content:
Netizens are always attracted towards fresh topic and so are more probable to share their views on such fresh content. If you are having redundant topic, they will find nothing new, and hence they’ll find less interest and are less probable of commenting on such articles.
[2] Personally mentioning:
This trick I learnt from experienced bloggers like Darren Rowse(my paragon). In this, what you have to do is simply ask readers to express their views on topic. Simply adding one line like “What do you think about this post???” or “What would you do to….” at the article end drastically increases the comment count.
[3] Dofollow, Commentluv and Keywordluv blog:
The recent trend of blogosphere is to switch to dofollow alongwith commentluv plugin. This has really boosted comment count of many blogs. Dofollow blogs are a source of treasure for webmasters who are working on blog backlinks and SEO. So, if you have a dofollow blog with commentluv or keywordluv plugin enabled, many webmasters are attracted towards your blog. You get plenty of quality comments from such webmasters.
[4] Replying to comments:
Most webmasters face this problem. They don’t care about replying to visitor comments and naturally their blog end up with less comments and hence less user interactivity. So, if you are one of them, get up friend and start replying to all comments made on your blog. Replying to comments make visitor feel that you care for them and also they get their queries solved. This not only serves as a motivation for existing commenters but also attracts new first time visitor comments.

This trick though works the best, has its own consequences. Comments can be increased by selecting a debating topic and expressing your own views. Topic should be flexible such that it will have many equal and opposite responses, and there may be many readers wishing to prove their point on topic.
But, on other hand, this can lead to fuming of readers and in complicated situations, loss of valuable readers if they find themselves hurt due to debating topic. So, use this tip carefully.

This is also very important if you want to increase comments on blog. Simply consider two situations :
a. In first, you are on a blog having only “Post a comment” link on page with no visible comment box. You have to click on link to go to comment full page and then comment.
b. In second, you have “visible” Discus or Intensedebate comment box just below the article and in best case, even Gravtar, Commentluv is supported by commenting system on blog.
So, where you can comment easily ?? Ofcourse, the second one. Because, it is easy to comment..saves time and what not !! So friends, improve your blog commenting system such that it will be easy for readers to comment on your blog. Widgets like Intensedebate are also useful in increasing blog comments.
[7] Top commentators:
This trick is used by many bloggers and have found this trick working very well. Here, just you have to mention top commentators which comment the most on your blog. So, this serves as an encouragement for your readers as they see their name listed on your blog leading to free online publicity and backlinks.
[8] Incomplete content:
Comments can be increased by mentioning only those points about topic which you think can be useful and are new to your readers and not mentioning or skipping those points which are very common and even newbie can have knowledge of it. Doing this, and implementing trick no.2 will give you large number of comments as readers will comment about points they know as these points, they will find, not mentioned in article, thus increasing your comments.
[9] Large traffic:
It is generally seen that most blogs receive comments 1-1.5% of their blog traffic. So, if you want to increase comment count, work on increasing your traffic. More the traffic, more will be the comment count.

Turning my blogs to Dofollow was the smartest thing I did to encourage comments.
Yeah, switching to dofollow really attracts large number of comments, mainly from webmasters.

I have my dofollow options enabled on my Generate Stable Passive Incomesite, but I always must approve every comment. That is a little time consuming, but from time to time I bulk approve all comments.

If you write on a broad spectrum of topics you are sure to pick up long tail traffic and thus long tail commenters.
I guess this is really important mention by you. Surely, topic selection determines not only traffic and success of blog, but also comments. But, it is equally important to have sufficient expertise on topic before blogging on it. This helps in solving reader queries.
Replying to comments is also a way to get new visitors interact.
