While I was booking my travel tickets and planing my itinerary, I came across this fantastic site called RedBus.in. It allows users to book BUS tickets online from all major cities to almost all routes across India.

Lets see how this great idea was born;

All the founders (of RedBus.in) used to work in Bangalore at the time (sometime in 2005) – all with top IT MNCs – IBM, Texas Instruments and Honeywell. They were friends from BITS Pilani, one of India’s finest engineering colleges. 

During Diwali that year, one of them wanted to spend the festival in his home town. Since he didn’t know his schedule till the end, taking a bus was the only choice.

He ran around town hunting for a ticket, but they were all sold out minutes before he reached the travel agents. Bangalore traffic is notorious and can grip you at the wrong time. That’s exactly what happened that day. 

That’s when he thought of the possibility of providing consumers the convenience of booking a bus ticket over the internet. The objective was two-fold – to ensure that they don’t have to leave the confines of their comfort to book a ticket, and to help them get a ticket when they need it the most.

The idea was compelling. And why not? The internet was being voted as a medium people couldn’t do without. PC and net penetration was increasing not only in urban areas, but also in rural India with innovative concepts like Shakti and e-Choupal. Also, people were getting used to booking tickets for travel using IRCTC and private airline websites. So, why not buses? 

Yes, you guessed it right, like all innovations, redBus too has an interesting story.

What I’m try to convey here is that we (all online entrepreneurs) come across to various problems  but hardly someone come up with an eSolution.

Online booking of Bus ticket was no doubt an innovative idea, and apparently it turned out wonderful for its founders.

I see most of the guys on internet trying to duplicate the success of their flourishing internet icons. They follow blindly the rules of the game, without making any noticeable revolution or improvement at all in current state.  And that’s where all big leaders make the differences, either they change the rules of the game or bring in the new ground-breaking, creative ideas to make it better.

This law applies to all of us, if you ask me, I still in quest to find the glorious idea. And as they say “an Idea can change your life” is what I seek in return.

I come across this informative INFOGRAPHIC about Steve Jobs, which explain a bit of his life up to his resignation august 2011.  A good attempt indeed by Edwin although the series of unprecedented events in his life are almost impossible to cover up even in a INFOGRAPHIC.

Hope it will give you some Idea about the Man to those who just wake up and realize his contribution to Technology and Computing.

One of my favorite Steve Job video is about the speech he delivered at at the Stanford University’s 114th Commencement on June 12, 2005, he urged graduates to pursue their dreams and see the opportunities in life’s setbacks,  including death itself.

In this video he told us three stories about his life. Very Inspirational, I urge you to have a look at it. It will change the way you look at life;

I also consider Steve as the world’s best presenter. I Love the way he introduced iPhone at The Mac World 2007. Interesting, funny and simply great way of introducing complex things.
